Mustangs Head Coach, Kelly Mead is a graduate of Huffman Hargrave High School where he was a three sport all district athlete. After high school, Coach Mead attended East Texas Baptist University where he earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education along with lettering four (4) years with the Tigers Baseball Team. Upon graduation he went back to his alma mater, Huffman Hargrave, to begin his teaching and coaching career and the opportunity to coach his younger brother, Kyle. Coach Mead spent five (5) years at Huffman before making the short transfer to Kingwood High School. In 2003, he joined the KHS coaching staff for both football and baseball. Coach Mead was an integral part of the coaching staff for the 2004 5A Final-4 and 2005 5A State Champion Kingwood Mustangs. Kelly is beginning his ninth (9th) year with the mustangs and his fifth (5th) as the Head Baseball Coach. In addition to his coaching duties, he teaches Algebra and enjoys all outdoor sports, including hunting and fishing. He is also a devoted husband and father to his wife Kali and their son Mason (2).
