Kingwood vs Humble

June 2, 2005

The second game of the evening proved just the opposite from the first as a pitchers duel ensued with Mike Ojala on the mound for Kingwood.  The Mustangs scored in the bottom of the first.  With one out Fountain doubled.  Simmons singled and Negron singled driving home Fountain.  Little did everyone know but that would be all the scoring as the Mustangs took their 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh.  The leadoff hitter for the Wildcats reached on an infield single.  With one out, the wildcats got a double and had runners on second and third.  Ojala recorded a strikeout for out number two.  Then with two strikes on the next Humble hitter, he reached on another infield single and the tying run scored.  The Mustang failed to score in their half of the seventh sending the game to extra innings.  The Wildcats would then score twice in the eighth and held Kingwood scoreless in the bottom of the inning to take the 3-1 win and send the series to a third and deciding game.  Mike Ojala was the tough luck losing pitcher as he pitched eight great innings.  He allowed 3 runs on eight hits, walked one and had five strikeouts.  Kingwood had ten hits on the evening, they just couldn’t get a key hit at the right time as they stranded many runners on the night.  The Mustang hits came from Pendleton(3-4) Negron(2-3) Fountain(2-4) Ojala(1-1) Simmons(1-4) and McCormick(1-3).
