Kingwood vs Humble

In the
opening game of the series the bats were alive and pitcher Austin Wood kept the
Wildcats at bay as the Mustangs came away with a 13-2 win. The Mustangs wasted no time as they scored
four times in the top of the first. With
one out Josh Fountain singled. After the
second out Kenneth Negron tripled driving in the first run of the game. Austin Wood walked and Brennan Oliver entered
as a courtesy runner. A.J. Pendleton
drove in two runs with a double and John Seitz singled giving the Mustangs a
4-0 lead after a half inning of play.
Kingwood added one more in the second as Johnny Whittleman
walked leading off the inning and stole second.
With two outs Negron singled driving in the Mustangs fifth run of the
evening. A four run third put the
Mustangs in total control. With one out,
four consecutive walks to Seitz, McCormick, Denney and Whittleman
gave the Mustangs one run. A Fountain
single brought in one more and Doug Simmons singled bringing home two more
putting Kingwood up 9-0 after three.
That would be all the scoring until the seventh when four more Mustangs
crossed home plate. Seitz singled
leading off. McCormick doubled and Kyle
Denney singled to bring home the first run of the inning. One out later Fountain singled driving in run
number two. A sac fly from Simmons
brought home Denney. Negron singled and
Wood singled driving home the final run of the evening for the Mustangs in the
13-2 win. The Mustangs rapped out
fifteen hits on the night coming from Fountain(3-5) Negron(3-5) McCormick(3-3)
Seitz(2-2) Denney(1-3) Wood(1-3) Simmons(1-4 and Pendleton(1-5). The only two runs Kingwood starter Austin
Wood allowed came after the game was well out of reach as the Wildcats scored
two runs in the bottom of the seventh as he picked up the complete game
win. Wood allowed two runs on five hits, didn’t walk a hitter and had six strikeouts.
