The Mustangs completed their sweep of the Cardinals Saturday afternoon with a 7-1 win.  The win advances the Mustangs in the playoffs against 23-5A District champion Deer Park.  The teams will play a three game series this week with the first game in Kingwood at 7:00 Thursday May 12th.  Game two will be Friday night at 7:00 in Deer Park.  If a third games is needed it will be at the Baytown Lee High school field on Saturday.  Against the Cardinals on Saturday the Mustangs scored twice in the bottom of the first for a led they would not relinquish.  Johnny Whittleman and Kenneth Negron both walked and a double steal had runners at second and third and both runners scored on a Jacob Edwards single.  In the bottom of the second with one out Kyle Denney was hit by a pitch and one out later Whittleman took a pitch over the left center field fence giving the Mustangs a 4-0 lead after two.  In the third Doug Simmons tripled and scored on a long fly ball to right off the bat of Edwards for a 5-0 lead after three full innings.  The Cardinals scored their lone run of the game in the top of the fifth but the Mustangs answered right back in the bottom of the inning.  Whittleman doubled leading off and scored on Negron triple.  Negron would score a couple of pitches later on a wild pitch.  Mike Ojala was the starting and winning pitcher for Kingwood.  Ojala went five and one-third innings allowing the one run on five hits, two walks and four strikeouts to improve to 8-2 on the year.  The Cardinals had a mini threat going in the sixth when they had runners on first and second with one out.  The Mustangs made a pitching change bringing in John Touchton.  One pitch is all Touchton needed to squelch the rally as he got an inning ending double play ball and pitched a scoreless seventh preserving the 7-1 Mustang win.  The Mustangs had only five hits on the afternoon but made the most of them. Whittleman(2-2, HR) Negron(1-2) Simmons(1-2) and Edwards(1-2) had Kingwoods hits.
