Following the tournament on Tuesday the Mustangs played host to former district rival Sam Rayburn.  The game turned into a pitching duel between Kevin Dutcher of Rayburn and Doug Simmons and Blake Steil of the Mustangs.  Rayburn got on the board in the top of the first scoring one run on three walks and a single.  That would be the only run of the game until the Mustangs tied the score with a run in the bottom of the fifth.  Leading off, Steil worked a walk.  John Seitz followed with a double off the right center fence with curtsey runner Brennan Oliver moving to third.  Kyle Denny was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Kenneth Negron followed with a fly ball to left and Oliver tagged on the play and was safe at home on a very close play to even the score at 1-1.  After a scoreless sixth and top of the seventh the Mustangs came to bat in the bottom of the inning needing a run to gain the win.  With one out, John Seitz decided extra innings would not be necessary on this evening as he lined a Home Run just inside the right field foul pole to give the Mustangs a tough 2-1 victory.  Simmons went the first two innings on the hill for Kingwood allowing one run on one hit, three walks and three strikeouts.  Blake Steil relieved in the top of the third and pitched five strong innings to get the win.  Steil allowed only one hit in his five innings, walked three and had six strikeouts.  Kingwood could muster up only four hits on the evening.  Seitz(2-3, HR), Wood(1-3) and Pendleton(1-2) had the Stang hits.  The Mustangs next home game is Monday, March 7th at 6:00 against Klein.  Kingwood will follow that with games Thursday through Saturday at Minute Maid Park.
