vs Westbrook

Apr 1, 2005

On a windy Friday night in Beaumont, the sophomore team lost its first district game against Westbrook by a score of 8 to 5.  Taking advantage of the wind and having one of those nights where everything they hit found a hole, Westbrook scored one unearned run in the first inning and put together 4 runs in the second and 3 runs in the third.  Corey Grillet pitched 2-1/3 innings giving up 7 earned runs on 8 hits and 3 walks.  Michael Oros pitched 1-2/3 innings giving up one hit and striking out one.  Travis Crane pitched a scoreless 5th inning facing 4 batters and giving up one walk.  Conor McGinnis started the sixth inning to retire one batter only to have the game called due to time.  At the plate Kingwood had 7 hits for the six inning game.  Jordan Raney scored twice as he reached base all 4 at bats with 3 walks and a single.  Corey Frankum scored twice with a single and double, and Derek Draeger had 2 RBI's in a 2 for 4 night. Austin Ebow contributed a double.  The team is now 12-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in district.
