vs Westbrook

On a windy Friday night in Beaumont, the sophomore
team lost its first district game against Westbrook by a score of 8 to 5.
Taking advantage of the wind and having one of those nights where
everything they hit found a hole, Westbrook scored one unearned
run in the first inning and put together 4 runs in the second and 3 runs
in the third. Corey Grillet pitched 2-1/3
innings giving up 7 earned runs on 8 hits and 3 walks. Michael Oros pitched 1-2/3 innings giving up one hit and striking
out one. Travis Crane pitched a scoreless 5th inning facing 4
batters and giving up one walk. Conor
McGinnis started the sixth inning to retire one batter only to have the game
called due to time. At the plate Kingwood had 7 hits for the six inning
game. Jordan Raney scored twice as he reached base all 4 at bats with 3
walks and a single. Corey Frankum scored twice
with a single and double, and Derek Draeger had 2
RBI's in a 2 for 4 night. Austin Ebow contributed a
double. The team is now 12-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in district.
