In a their
first meeting the sophomore team defeated Beaumont Westbrook by a
score of 18 to 4. Corey Frankum led off the
game with a triple and Kingwood did not slow down until 15 runs crossed
the plate in the first inning alone. Kingwood's last runs were scored in
the second inning as the lead was increased to 18 to 1. Westbrook
scored one unearned run in the first and 3 runs in the third inning. Matt
Brown led the offense with a double, 2 singles and 4 RBI's. Derek Draeger pushed across 2 runs with 2 doubles. Other
hits include a double by Austin Ebow and singles by
Ryan Grundy, David Tittle, Eric Stover and Corey Frankum. Conor McGinnis
pitched 4 innings striking out 7 and giving up 3 earned runs while allowing 5
hits and 2 walks. Michael Oros struck out one
as he faced 3 batters to pitch the final inning. The sophomore team
is now 12-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in district.
