The Sophomore team tied Baytown Lee in their district opener 7
to 7. Corey Grillet,
who had just pitched a complete 7 inning game for a victory against Spring on
Thursday, tired early in
Monday night’s game. He
continued to pitch four complete innings giving up 2 earned and 3 unearned
runs. Lefty Ryan Grundy pitched the last
3 innings giving up 4 hits and 2 runs.
Kingwood scored 5 of their runs in the first inning as Derek Draeger and David Tittle had one
RBI each, and Ryan Grundy hit a 2 RBI single.
Grundy and Draeger later each knocked in one
more run. Baytown Lee scored 5 runs in
the second inning, and two in the seventh to tie the game. The team is
now 8-2-1.
