Clear Creek ISD Trounament

Kingwood finished the Clear Creek ISD tournament with a 2-2 record.  Kingwood beat Spring in the opener on the pitching of Corey Grillet who pitched the complete 7 inning game striking out 6 and giving up 6 hits.  Grillet helped his own cause with a two RBI single, as Jordan Raney, Derek Draeger and David Tittle scored that inning. 

 

In the next game, Kingwood lost to Clear Brook 7 to 4.  Matt Brown pitched in his first regular season game, pitching 4-1/3 inning, Michael Oros finished the inning to get the last two outs.  Derek Draeger was 2 for 2 with a 2 RBI homerun over the right field fence.

 

The next opponent in the tournament was Elkins as Kingwood won 10 to 8.  Jordan Raney led the team with a two run homerun and a single.  Corey Frankum added an RBI with a triple. Also contributing was Derek Draeger and Matt Brown with doubles and Conor McGinnis pushing across a run with a single in the last inning.  David Tittle pitched his first outing of the season, giving up 12 hits and 8 runs.  Chris Brown came in to pitch to the last two batters of the game. 

 

The last game of the tournament was a disappointing 4 to 3 loss to Bellaire.  Corey Frankum pitched the entire 6 inning game, holding Bellaire to 7 hits and no bases on balls.  Kingwood was held to 3 singles in the game.  For the season, the Sophomore team is 8-2-1.
