KHS Sophomore

Vs Sam Rayburn

Mar 1, 2005

The Sophomore baseball team improved its season record to two wins and no losses with a lopsided victory over Sam Rayburn 35 to 2.  The score of the four inning game had fans wondering if any records had been broken.  Kingwood scored 20 runs in the first inning alone and pounded out 20 hits throughout the game.  On the mound, Corey Grillet pitched one shutout inning, followed by Travis Crane who pitched two three up and three down innings, striking out three.  Garrett Mills finished the game pitching the fourth inning.  In the first inning alone, Kingwood’s 20 runs came about with the help of Jordan Raney, who hit 2 triples, producing 5 RBI’s.  The first three batters in the lineup, Corey Frankum, Eric Stover and Raney all scored three times in the first inning, while 11 more runs were scored by the remaining 6 in the starting lineup.  In the spirit of good sportsmanship, Coach Kelly Mead quickly shut the offense down as much as he could, by preventing runners from stealing bases and advancing on passed balls.  The win was a team victory in every sense of the word.  Getting two hits each in the game were Derek Draeger, David Tittle, Brett Brown, Matt Brown, Conor McGinnis and Jordan Raney.  Those getting  one hit each were Johnny Dugas, Austin Ebow, Amir Estafayan, Chris Brown, Taylor Netek, Corey Gillet, Travis Crane and Corey Frankum.  Making an outstanding catch on a line drive to center field was Chase Croker.  For information on the Sophomore team schedule visit www.kingwoodbaseball.com.
