Kingwood Defeats The Woodlands

In Play Offs Tune Up Game at Scotland Yard 5-2

 

On May 5, 2004, a non-conference “tune up” game was played between the District 15-5A champion Woodland Highlanders and the District 22-5A champion Kingwood Mustangs at The Woodlands home field, Scotland Yard.

 

Senior lefthander, Zack Tumlinson, started for Kingwood and pitched two innings giving up three hits while striking out two and giving up no runs.  The score after two full innings: Kingwood 2 – The Woodlands 0.

 

Senior righthander, Daniel Edwards, pitched the 3rd and 4th innings giving up two hits with no runs scored during his stint on the mound.  The score after four full innings: Mustangs 3 – Highlanders 0.

 

Junior lefthander, Blake Hancock, came on to pitch the 5th and 6th innings giving up one hit while striking out three with no runs scored.  The score after six full innings of play: Kingwood 5 – Woodlands 0.

 

Sophomore righthander, Ryan Torres, and Senior righthander, Jimmy Jordan, closed the game out in the bottom of the 7th inning giving up two runs and four hits with Jordan earning the save.

 

Kingwood faced a pitching combination of Fowler, Dodson, Walker, and Drabek, with each pitcher going one or two innings.
