Clear Creek Battles Back

Evens Quarterfinals Series with a 9-3 Victory

 

In game two of the Region 3 Quarterfinals played at neutral site Baytown Lee, Clear Creek erupted for 12 hits and 9 runs to even the best of three series at one win each.

 

Kingwood held a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning behind a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Senior infielder, Greg Gossett that scored Junior infielder, Josh Fountain, who had walked.  In the same inning (top of the 3rd) two hole hitter DH, Thomas McCormick, singled home Junior first baseman, Austin Wood, with Kingwood’s second run.  The Mustangs would strand Junior centerfielder, Kyle Denny, and McCormick in the 3rd inning.

 

In the bottom of the 5th Clear Creek scored six runs on seven hits to break the game open.

 

Starter Senior lefthander, Zack Tumlinson, who pitched well, was lifted in the 5th inning – he would pitch four full innings giving up five hits and three runs (in the 5th).
