Humble Wins District By Defeating
Kingwood 7-5
Humble defeated Kingwood 7 - 5 in a matchup for
the district 22-5a title. Three Kingwood errors led to three unearned runs and
proved to be too much for Kingwood to overcome. Humble scored 2 in the 2nd on an
RBI double by Josh Ruffin and an RBI single by Chance Beasley. Humble tallied 2
more in the 3rd on a 2 run homer by Brandon Farr to put Kingwood starter Lance
Pendleton in a 4-0 hole. Kingwood cut the lead in half in the bottom of the 3rd
on a 2 run home run by David Hoke. Humble added 1 in the 4th off Kingwood
reliever Michael Hopper. Kingwood tied the score in the 5th on a 2 rbi single by
Michael Flower at which point Josh warren came on to relieve starter Josh Bone.
Warren allowed no runs in 2 2/3 innings of work and gets the win. In the 6th
Humble's Clint Corrigan hit an opposite field solo home run to give Humble the
lead for good. Humble added 1 more in the 7th when Ryan Trevino scored after a
one out double, advanced on a ground out, and scored on Kingwood's 3rd error of
the night.
