Blake Hancock kept the South Houston hitters guessing for 7 innings on
Thursday and the Mustang bats finally came to life giving Kingwood an 11
- 1 victory over the Trojans. Hancock went the full 7 innings, allowing
only 2 hits, walking one and striking out 6. South Houston got on
the
board first in the top of the 3rd but then the Mustangs countered with
two of their own in the bottom of the inning. Austin Pendleton led off
the inning with a single and was sacrificed to second by David Marvin.
Pendleton moved to third and ended up scoring on a sac fly by Thomas
McCormick. Kenneth Negron who walked in the inning scored on a Josh
Fountain double. The Mustangs added four more in the bottom of the 5th
when Kyle Denney led off with a single. Marvin then reached base on a
fielders choice after Austin Pendleton had reached first. Josh Fountain
singled later in the inning to drive home one and then Marvin scored on
an error on a McCormick grounder. Fountain came around to score on an
error and then Austin Wood doubled to drive home the fourth run of the
inning. Five more in the bottom of the 6th sealed the deal for the
Mustangs. Blake Steil led off with a double and scored on a Jimmy
McCrary triple. Three Trojan errors in a row, a walk to Dustin Delay, a
sac bunt from Michael Cvejanovich and a single from Levi Meyer accounted
for the rest of the scoring in the inning. For the day, Fountain was
